Day Care

At Old Raven House we are pleased to be able to offer Day care facilities. This might be for regular use, several days a week, or for occasional times.
We are able to offer a full day, starting at 9am, if necessary, and ending after tea at 6pm. The facility is available seven days a week.
As with residential facilities there is always something going on, whether it be a trip out or one of our regular activity sessions.

As a taster, we have been to the London Eye, to Marwell and a boat trip on the Thames, as well as out for picnics and to visit garden centres. This year we are planning a trip to Portsmouth to go up the Spinnaker Tower, as well as Birdworld and Saville Gardens.

A typical day might look like this:

9am arrive. 10 am cup of tea and a chat, 10.30 hair, nails or feet (you can get all three done regularly at Old Raven House) or you may like a bath in our state of the art bathroom. 12 noon is lunch, with a choice of home cooked meals and desserts, followed by tea or coffee. At 2pm the activities start, which might be Bingo, Art and Craft, flower arranging, knitting, or a giant crossword or film show. We also have frequent entertainers in for a sing a long, or a tea dance. There is always a cup of tea and piece of cake around 2.30pm. If you feel sleepy after lunch, and prefer a snooze, we have a lovely conservatory which is usually quiet, where you can put your feet up, watch television, read the paper or just while away the afternoon in peace. Finally the evening meal is at five pm, which consists of soup, a light hot meal, or a sandwich, and something sweet.

Of course, if you need help taking medication, we can assist you with that, and you will have the reassurance of knowing that there are experienced staff to help you with all your needs the whole time you are with us. We don't use agency staff, so you will quickly get to know the staff, as the same faces will pop up on a regular basis.

Coming for day care is a good way of being introduced to the concept of residential care, without being overwhelmed with the finality of leaving home to 'go into care'. It also offers full time carers a respite from their responsibilities for a while, to have a day to themselves, go shopping, make appointments or just catch up with the house work.

If you are interested, do give us a call and we will be pleased to discuss your requirements. Good, reliable and regular day care has been known to delay the necessity to receive full time or residential care, and offers increased choice and options.
